We are pleased to make the following announcements regarding Chanhassen High School administration:
- Dick Ungar will be Chanhassen High School’s interim principal for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year. This is Mr. Ungar’s 30th year as an educator, and the past 24 years have been with Eastern Carver County Schools. He has been a school administrator since 2002. Mr. Ungar helped open Chanhassen High School in 2009.
- Michael Bailey, Chanhassen High School social studies teacher and coach, will serve as interim assistant principal for athletics. He will receive assistance from Andy Powell, who also is a teacher and coach. Mr. Bailey will be able to rely on the knowledge of Mr. Ungar and Jon Summer, Chaska High School’s athletic director. The athletic directors of the Metro West Conference also will be able to lend advice and support to Mr. Bailey. We are confident he will succeed in this role for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year.
- The Chanhassen High School’s social studies department is developing a plan with school administration to teach Mr. Bailey’s classes. The winter break will provide time for that department to organize coverage of his classes for the rest of the school year. More details on who will teach Mr. Bailey’s classes will be provided after winter break to students who are in his classes.
Please welcome Mr. Ungar and Mr. Bailey to their new responsibilities. We have every confidence in their abilities to help lead Chanhassen High School.
