Associate Superintendent Clint Christopher shared the following message with staff and Chanhassen families today:
Dick Ungar has been named principal of Chanhassen High School. He has been serving as interim principal since December and he is the right person to continue to lead the school. Mr. Ungar builds strong relationships and his skills working with students, staff and families are well-suited for Chanhassen High School.
Mr. Ungar earned the position through a competitive hiring process that included internal and external candidates. A group of parents, teachers and district administrators helped to assess and interview qualified candidates. We are confident in Dick’s ability to lead and to continue to build on the strong academics and exceptional opportunities for students that characterize high school in Eastern Carver County Schools.
Mr. Ungar has been part of Eastern Carver County Schools since 1993, starting as a middle school art teacher. He earned a Master’s degree from St. Thomas and later a specialist degree in educational leadership. He has been an assistant principal and activities director since 2002 serving at the Freshman Center followed by Chaska High School. He helped open Chanhassen High School as athletic director starting in 2008.
