Last year and this school year, student enrollment exceeded projections. On the first day of school this fall, enrollment was 9645, 200 students over last year and 100 students over prediction. Enrollment is crucial data for planning and so Eastern Carver County Schools will conduct a formal study. DeeDee Kahring, director of finance and operations, shared with the School Board at its meeting last week she will soon hire a firm to conduct an enrollment study. Enrollment projections help the district plan staffing at schools, provide curriculum resources for students, and identify facility needs, and long-term maintenance. The study is expected to be completed in the next few months. Kahring’s department will then conduct a study of district facilities to see how existing facilities match with projected student enrollment. Both reports will be shared with the board after they are completed.
