A big thanks to the 80+ families who attended our 7th Annual Parent Education Night on January 18, 2018. It was a valuable evening of learning and partnering together. We had over 80 parents and guardians attend learning sessions and 55 children and young adults attend daycare, social inclusion fun, or student transition activities. This event allowed parents the opportunity to choose from a variety of sessions that were of interest to them. Eleven sessions were offered on topics which included positive behavior strategies, assistive technology, working collaboratively with your children and transition panels. Feedback from the night was extremely positive with all sessions offered receiving a rating of 4.7 or higher on a 5 point scale. Additional feedback shared is displayed below.
- 99% of respondents felt that the date and time worked well for their family
- 93% of respondents felt this should continue to be an annual event
- 94% of respondents believed the sessions provided valuable information related to their child
- 50% heard about event from district email or voicemail and 22% email or voicemail
This event takes numerous district volunteers working collectively with our Special Education Advisory Council. We will be seeking additional feedback on ways to partner with our families in order to provide meaningful and relevant opportunities for families whose children receive specialized education services. In the next newsletter look for a survey to provide your input and feedback.
