What is your favorite thing about working for Nutrition Services at Eastern Carver County Schools?
I look forward to each day knowing adventure awaits and no 2 days are the same! I am proud to work in a great district for the past 18 years and to be able to support the students.
What is the funniest thing a student has ever said to you?
When I first started in the district, a student came and told each staff member “You’re Fired!” This was a daily occurrence. Then one day, I replied, “O.K. then there won’t be anyone to get your lunch”. He said, “I could stay this once”
What is your favorite thing to cook at home?
My favorite thing to cook is something for my family and friends, like a big breakfast. I also enjoy making jams and baked goods. Then give them away as parting gifts.
Who has had the biggest positive impact in your life and why?
My grandmother Anita, she shared her cooking and canning skills with me! She rarely measured unless it was a new recipe and she saved quite a few clippings from newspapers and magazines. I may have inherited “clippings” from her…thank goodness for pinterest! I may have a board or TEN! I also appreciated her love for family and nature. Always being able to laugh when she made a mistake. She also treated others how she would want to be treated. All of her traits had a lasting impact on my life.
What is your favorite food to eat?
I do have a sweet tooth! So, I enjoy ice cream as a treat. I also enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables from my garden. Fresh, local, pick your own strawberries always seem to taste better! My favorite summer vegetables are tomatoes and cucumbers.
What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandson. We enjoy taking long walks at the arboretum. It is such a beautiful place located in our own backyard. It’s different and interesting everytime I go. The arboretum also inspires me to plant flowers, herbs and veggies in my garden. I enjoy cooking with what I grow.
