Dr. Keith Brooks has been named the district’s new Director of Equity and Inclusion and Dan Cahill has been named Teaching and Learning Secondary Administrator. Both Brooks and Cahill earned their positions after intensive interview processes – with pools of almost 50 applicants – that included multiple interviews with representation from our school and broader community.
Director of Equity and Inclusion
Keith Brooks is currently the Executive Director of Student Support Services for Minneapolis Public Schools. He has held leadership positions in public school systems, post-secondary institutions, and was a professor of education at Bethel University. His career is deeply rooted in education and inclusion, and his wealth of experience working with both students, staff, and communities to tackle issues around building a more equitable environment will serve him well in this role. That ability to understand and work with multiple perspectives while driving change make him a great fit for Eastern Carver County Schools. Brooks will begin his duties July 9.
Teaching and Learning Secondary Administrator
Dan Cahill is currently the Staff Development and Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator with the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale District. He has served in previous positions as a curriculum and staff development specialist, an instructional coach, and a language arts and mathematics teacher at the high school level. Cahill’s experience in the classroom as well as his leadership with professional development, professional learning communities, culturally-responsive teaching, and restorative practices will serve the Eastern Carver County Schools district well. His ability to facilitate adult learning will be a key asset as he works with our teachers. Cahill will start July 1.
The district is proud to welcome Keith Brooks and Dan Cahill to our community of learners, teachers and all who work to benefit young people.
