Eastern Carver County School District is excited to name Nate Gibbs as the next principal of Chaska Middle School West. Gibbs will start his role in early July, and follows Sheryl Hough who announced her retirement earlier this year.
Gibbs has almost a decade of diverse experiences in education, serving most recently as Assistant Principal at Minnetonka High School. Prior to that position, he held the same role in St. Paul Public Schools’ American Indian Magnet School. During his time with St. Paul Public Schools he also served as Project Coordinator in the Office of Talent Development and Acceleration Services and as a cultural specialist and teaching assistant at Capitol Hill Magnet School, whose primary focus is gifted and talented students.
He received his bachelor of arts in political science with a minor in African American Studies from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a master of arts in educational leadership from Minnesota State University-Mankato.
Gibbs earned the position following a rigorous and thorough interview process that began with more than 30 applicants and included multiple rounds of interviews with various stakeholders. His experience and commitment to positive academic, social, and emotional outcomes for every student make him an outstanding fit for the district and Middle School West. We are proud to welcome Nate to our community of learners, teachers, and all who work to benefit young people.
