Eastern Carver County School Board Approves November Referendum Three questions on the ballot at the November 5 election At their Monday, June 24 meeting, the Eastern Carver County School Board unanimously approved putting a referendum before voters with a three-question ballot on November 5, 2019.  The three questions address enrollment growth and funding needs necessary to provide the educational experience each student needs and deserves. Question 1: An operating levy increase to help bridge our budget gap, continue the strong academic preparation of our students, prevent cuts to programs and services, maintain class sizes and manage growing enrollment.   Question 2: A bond request to build a new elementary school on district-owned land in Chaska, address deferred maintenance needs across the district and build a larger bus garage on a new site. Notice of filing dates for election to the School Board

The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Eastern Carver County Schools is Aug. 2 to 5 p.m., Aug. 16. The general election shall be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8. At the general election, three members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four years each. Affidavits of candidacy are available from the school district clerk in the Superintendent’s Office, 11 Peavey Road, Chaska. The filing fee for this office is $2.00. A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, must have no record of criminal sexual misconduct for which registration is required, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same general election.
