Practical Arts

Practical Arts is a class that students at the High School can take to explore art used in every day life.  A student explores many, many different types of art, not just one like in a ceramics or painting class.  All three levels of this class are taught by Kathy Morton. 

Practical Arts I:

In Practical Arts I, students will make:
Clay Tiles
Hemp Jewelry
Decoupage Boxes
Tie-Dying
Copper Enameled Piece
Papermaking
A Textile Portrait

Mosaics

Practical Arts II:

In Practical Arts II, students will make:
Candle
Marbled Paper
Silver Wire Jewelry
Silk Screened T-Shirt
Clay Lantern
Batiking
Rug Punching

Practical Arts III:

In Practical Arts III, students will do:
Weaving
Decorated Mirror
Ceramic Plant Urn
Large Garden Mosaic
Beaded Box
Scrimshaw

Note:

Ms. Morton can always use donations of yarn, fabric, yogurt containers, glitter, beads, hemp, magazines, candle making supplies, jell-o molds or other molds that can be used for candles, paint, silk screening paints, marble paints, ribbon, or any other supplies that can be used for these projects.
