You will develop strong verbal skills as you prepare and deliver speeches for a variety of audiences and purposes. Business Law What do Enron, Martha Stewart and WorldCom have in common? These corporations were all convicted of unethical business practices and for breaking the law. Learn about these companies, business ethics, whistle-blowing, and contract, intellectual property and employment law. This course is a must for all law and business students. Business Math The purpose of this course is to develop the ability to solve mathematical problems that are common to the business world. Units covered include checkbooks, payroll, budgeting, borrowing, saving, investing, home expenses, transportation, taxes, and retail and wholesale pricing. Career Exploration “What are you going to major in?” This is a very important question that you should answer BEFORE you graduate from high school. Learn what careers are a good fit for you and take the time to investigate them in-depth. This class is for ALL students who want to prepare today for life tomorrow.

Your business idea, the target market, the management, and the actual business plan are some of the topics to be covered in this project-oriented class. Investing Do you want to become fiscally responsible and take charge of your own financial future? If you enjoy learning about different investment techniques this is the class for you. You will participate in an on-line stock market simulation game to maintain an electronic stock portfolio. Learn different ways to make your portfolio grow in value by researching and analyzing different companies. Learn it today, be rich tomorrow. Personal Money Management Students will learn many relevant and practical personal money issues. The more students learn about money the more confident they will become in making wise spending and savings decisions. Topics to be covered include: Checking & Savings, Credit, Investing, Insurance Options, Budgeting, Federal & State Income Taxes, Renting vs. Buying a Home, and more. Work Seminar This class meets daily during the first 30-minutes of fourth block. Students are released at 2:00 p.m. All students are required to have a job and work a minimum of 10 hours per week. All class assignments must be completed to retain the early release privilege. The class curriculum is different every quarter. You may not have a student aide or study hall when taking the work seminar class. This is a seniors-only class. |
