Do you remember Razors, Furbies and Beanie Babies? Learn how these fad items fit into the marketing mix in this project-oriented class. You will learn about the 4 P's of Marketing, participate in Toastmaster's speaking program, and create an advertising campaign. This class is required for all students interested in joining Chaska DECA.

Prerequisite:  Marketing 1

This is a continuation of Marketing 1. You will learn more in-depth concepts about the 4 P's. In addition, the class will organize and conduct a major school and/or community event in one of the following areas: Community Service, Creative Marketing, Entrepreneurship Promotion, Learn and Earn, Public Relations. The class members will also plan and assist with Powder Puff, Turkey Trot and/or Mr. CHS. This class is required for all second-year Chaska DECA members.

Marketing 3
2 Quarter Blocks (452 & 453)     1.0 Credit
Elective:  Grades 12

Prerequisite:  Marketing 2

You will learn how to conduct primary and secondary marketing research, develop findings and conclusions, and write a marketing proposal. You will apply your marketing research knowledge by partnering with a local business, actually conducting the research and presenting your proposal to the business owner. The class members will also plan and assist with Powder Puff, Turkey Trot and/or Mr. CHS. This class is required for all third-year Chaska DECA members.

Fashion Marketing

Elective:  Grades 10- 12

Do you have a passion for fashion? Learn about fashion designers, Dolce & Gabbana, Juicy, Ralph Lauren, retail stores and more about the marketing of fashion in this project-oriented class. The class project may include organizing a real-life fashion show. The final project is creating and presenting a fashion promotion plan. All students are eligible to participate in the annual fashion trip to New York in the spring.

Introduction to Golf Course Operations & Management
1Quarter Block (444)    .50 Credit
Elective:  Grades 10- 12

Students who take this course will become more knowledgeable about careers in golf. Students will learn hands on practical skills that they can use working in the golf industry. These skills include the following; customer service, rules interpretation, club repair, tournament operations, selling golf products, training employees, marketing, communication & leadership, teaching golf to juniors, and organizing golf outings for businesses.

This course is for students who are interested in learning about marketing from a sports and entertainment perspective. Students who participate in this class will create a major marketing campaign for College Athletics, Professional Sports, or a Major Entertainment event.
