I am also generally available from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm in my classroom.  The best way to contact me is through e-mail, although I do check voice mail each day.

I offer science tutoring in R-231 for any CHS student interested on Tuesdays from 3:10 – 4:00.  I should be able to provide help for most science courses we teach (or at least point you in the right direction).

At Chaska High School, we offer two introductory level chemistry courses.  It is very important that you choose the right chemistry course for you.   Which course is right for you?

For specific policies, see each course description.  Chemistry.  Honors Chemistry.

We also offer Advanced Placement Chemistry.

Chemistry (1410/1411)

Chemistry is the coolest thing to study in the Universe.  Chemistry is imbedded in just about everything you will be involved with for your entire life.  Everyone should have at least a basic understanding of chemistry in order to make reasonable and responsible choices regarding the materials you expose yourself to and how you live your life.  This is true both for personal choices and societal choices.  Chemistry is also very important as an academic study as students prepare to continue their education beyond high school.  This course will also help you develop and hone your analytical skills and ability to reason and use logic.

Everyone is capable of learning chemistry.  In order to be successful you must become engaged in your learning – chemistry is not a spectator sport!  This means you need to be in class everyday and on time ready to go.  There are activities and discussions that are difficult, if not impossible, to replicate outside of the class – your participation is essential.

Safety comes first – you must wear goggles and closed-toe shoes whenever we do labs that involved potentially dangerous chemicals or equipment.  If you like to wear sandals, bring a pair of shoes to leave here for lab days.
