Intermediate
German 201 is a semester long course
which offers a continuation of German study following German 3. It is offered at CHS in conjunction with
the German department at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Students
who apply and qualify for this course under application requirements can earn
4 college credits through MSU, Mankato
upon its successful completion.
Intermediate German 201 students work to strengthen German language
fluency and deepen cultural understanding. We will focus on building competency
in reading, writing, speaking and listening through our exploration of a
variety of communicative topics and contemporary German
texts and film. Students will also participate in a comprehensive study of German grammar. Class is conducted exclusively
in German. Student use of German will be
expected with a goal to use it 95% of the time or more.
Students who choose to enroll in
Intermediate German 201 should expect to commit the additional time and
effort necessary to meet rigorous course requirements.
Students wishing to do so
will have the opportunity to take the German
Language Advanced Placement test in
the spring. Please see the CHS

German Literature
Students in German
Literature build on all their German language skills and expand their cultural
knowledge through guided and cooperative exploration of German literary texts.
These texts, by various well-known authors, will include a survey of poetry,
plus other selected texts which may include short stories, film, plays and/or
novellas.
Vocabulary and grammar topics will be covered as they relate to our
work with the course readings. Class is conducted exclusively in German. Student use of German will be expected with a goal to
use it 95% of the time or more.
