Welcome to 6th grade Reading!

My goal is to foster a love of reading, while working on skills and strategies that will enable students to be successful independent readers.  The sixth grade reading curriculum is designed around the Reader's Handbook.  In order to practice the skills and strategies presented in the Reader's Handbook, students will participate in numerous reading activities from the Literature book, novels, and other outside sources.

Each month, students will be responsible for keeping track and turning in their reading minutes for the month. They will receive a calendar that will help them to keep track of their minutes. Students will receive the following grades: Calendars will be due near the end of the month.

600 minutes A
500 minutes B
400 minutes C
