Transportation Technology Instructor: Mr. Rogers



DESCRIPTION: Theories of small engine operation, tool use, and repair procedures will be studied giving students basic knowledge of two and four stroke engines. Students will be given the opportunity to repair and service mowers, snow blowers, chainsaws, etc?

REQUIRED ACTIVITIES:

-Pass the required safety tests -Disassemble a working small engine -Reassemble the same small engine so that it runs correctly -Service or repair a small engine of your own (instructor approval required) -Disassemble and reassemble a pull rope recoil

GRADING: This course will be graded on total points. The total points will vary depending on the tasks that are assigned. However, the following scale will be used to determine the final grade.

A --- 90-100%
B--- 80-89%
C --- 70-79%
D --- 60-69%
F --- 59% and below

Daily grades: Helps to evaluate true student performance in a lab situation by giving credit toward in class performance and practical application work. In this respect, performance and progress is being evaluated rather than just written work, quizzes, and tests. The Daily Grading System encourages student participation and practical application of content being learned in class and further helps to enhance performance on written work. This daily grading system is intended to evaluate: - Working safely - Lab time work progress towards goals - Planned and wise use of time - Help with clean-up duties - Cooperation with instruction and other students in class


Guidelines: Class goals and requirements are clearly stated Grading system is clearly defined Daily grade system is clearly defined

A Superior work toward goals along with planned wise use of time. B Above average work towards goals. May be slow getting started or time not totally wisely used (tardies) C Average work towards goals. Majority of time spent on task Time spent watching others and not used to apply or work on goals D Below average work toward goals. Slows others as they work Shows little effort to apply or work on assigned tasks and projects F Willful disruption of instruction or to others as they work. Willful safety violation-student may also be removed from the class Willful unexcused absence, skipping of class or skipping out of class X Excused absence No points given-the day is not counted toward the total of daily grades
