BEGINNING GUITAR

The guitar is one of the most popular instruments that young adults want to learn.  Since it is not an instrument included in the traditional band or orchestra program, Chaska Middle School offers a co-curricular course for students to learn the basics of guitar.

Acoustic and Electric are both taught.   In the class you will learn basic chord fingerings like G, A7, D, Em and we'll even get a little bit into how to do power chords and barre chords.  You will learn different strumming patterns including bass chord

strums and mute strums.  You'll learn how to read tabs which is a guitar-specific notation as well as traditional notes on the staff.  You will get some music theory knowledge and even get a chance to request music that you would like to learn.   Guitars are available to use upon request.
