Jean Lindquist Benefit Concert
One of the highlights of the performance year in District 112 is the Jean Lindquist Benefit Concert. The concert will take place on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at CHS.
The concert features many of the District 112 Music Staff performing in a multitude of musical combinations. Many of the staff members perform solos and small ensemble selections on their primary instruments. This past year, Jonathan and Victoria Elementary band director Sue Morrissey performed a flute solo. CMS-East Choir Director Caroline Swanson and CHS/PRFC Band Director Paul Swanson performed a voice/clarinet duet. The staff also combines to perform larger ensemble pieces including a percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble and choir. CMS-East/PRFC Choir Director Shelley Kline traditionally creates new lyrics to popular showtunes for one of the choral selections. Then there is always some non-traditional music where the staff gets to show off their not-so-serious side. Last year, there was a rendition of the Black Eyed Peas' "Where Is The Love", "We Go Together" from "High School Musical" and an original piece for pails and buckets written by CMSW Band Director Scott Prescott.
The performance is dedicated to District 112 Band Director Jean Lindquist. Jean taught at Chaska Middle School and was loved by her students. She passed away in 1997 from leukemia. The Lindquist family has established an endowment fund for the purpose of providing an annual scholarship. Applicants must be students at Chaska High School who, like Jean, were active participants in music throughout their high school careers. The winner need not necessarily become a college music major; however, he/she is expected to participate in a collegiate performance group throughout the freshman year. Additional contributions are always welcome. You may send them directly to:
