JAZZ ENSEMBLE ONE

Chaska Middle School Jazz Ensemble One is an auditioned group for the top jazz students at CMS-East and CMS-West.  All CMS students are eligible to audition on September 26,2007 in the CMS-West Band Room.  Jazz Ensemble One rehearses on Thursdays after school from 2:30 to 4 p.m. from November until early April. 

Jazz Ensemble One performs at the Holiday Concert, the Chaska Jazz Festival, the CMS-West Talent Show, the Coffee Shop Concert and the MSU-Mankato Jazz Festival.  Members are required to be at all rehearsals and performances. 

Jazz Ensemble One offers students an opportunity to learn quality literature, learn about the history of jazz music, improvise and listen to important jazz recordings.  Students will rehearse in both large group and sectional settings.  They will also work on improvisation using Jamey Aebersold play-along books and Band In A Box software.

Jazz Ensemble One will also record a CD and make a music video at the completion of the school year. 

We are looking for students who play saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass guitar, drum set and vibes.  We also need one vocalist.
