District InfoWelcome to the Schools of Eastern Carver County...District 112School District 112 is located in eastern Carver County Minnesota, approximately 25 miles southwest of Minneapolis. Towns located within our boundaries include Carver, Chanhassen, Chaska and Victoria. We serve approximately 8,700 students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade and also provide education services to our entire community through early childhood programs and adult education offered by Community Education. We are a growing school district. We serve approximately 1700 more students today than we did in 2000. We are increasingly diverse. In 2006-07, our students spoke 41 languages at home. Approximately 13 percent of our enrollment are students of color. Kindergarten - Our half-day kindergarten program is located in our Kindergarten Center in Chaska. Parents also have the option of participating in a tuition-based all-day program located at there and at Jonathan and Chanhassen Elementary Schools. Elementary - Seven elementary schools serve grades 1-5. Our elementary program features a strong curriculum in our core subjects of math, reading, social studies and science. We also provide specialists in art, vocal music, band, and physical education. All of our elementary schools have classroom computers and computer labs. Teachers specializing in gifted and talented instruction serve each school. We welcome parent involvement at every school. Middle Schools - Currently, two middle schools serve grades 6-8. Our middle schools use the practices recommended by the Carnegie Council on Adolescent Development including assigning students to learning communities we call "families," in core subjects. Middle school curriculum expands to include orchestra, technology education, and family and consumer science. Freshmen Center - All District 112 9th graders attend Pioneer Ridge Freshmen Center as a transitional year on the way to high school. This rigorous program is designed to help students discover the talents and interests that they will pursue in high school. In September, 2009, the freshmen program will move into Chaska and Chanhassen High Schools; Pioneer Ridge will become the District's third middle school for grades 6-8. High School - Currently, students in grades 10-12 attend Chaska High School in Chaska. District 112's second high school, Chanhassen High in Chanhassen, MN will open in September, 2009. Our high school program offers a rigorous preparation for post-secondary education as well as an outstanding co-curricular program.
