High Schools – Effective Beginning the 2017-18 School Year

Chaska High School

– High school enrollment needs to be balanced. Chaska is consistently 200-300 students smaller than Chanhassen.

– The proposal is to base high school attendance on elementary attendance areas. Chaska would receive students who are in the attendance area of the new elementary school, Clover Ridge, East Union and Jonathan. This is a change for residents of Carver and the East Union Elementary attendance area.

– Chaska students residing in downtown Chaska (east of Highway 41, south of Highway 61 (Chaska Blvd) and west of the ravine that intersects Chaska Blvd.) will remain aligned with Chaska High School.

With this feeder school model, the 2021 enrollment projection better aligns Chaska and Chanhassen’s total enrollment, ethnicity and those eligible for free/reduced-price lunch.

– The Family Learning Center would move out of the east end of the high school to allow for higher enrollment numbers. The Family Learning Center would move into the Kindergarten Center building.

– Chaska would start 10 minutes earlier at 8 a.m. and dismiss at 2:50 p.m.

Chanhassen High School

– High school enrollment needs to be balanced. Chanhassen is consistently 200-300 students larger than Chaska.

– The proposal is to base high school attendance on elementary attendance areas. Chanhassen would receive students who are in the attendance area of Bluff Creek, Chanhassen Elementary, Victoria, and in 2020, La Academia. The only exception is for Victoria Elementary students who reside in Chaska, see Chaska High School description below.

– With this feeder school model, the 2021 enrollment projection better aligns Chaska and Chanhassen’s total enrollment, ethnicity and those eligible for free/reduced-price lunch.

– Chanhassen would start 10 minutes earlier at 8 a.m. and dismiss at 2:50 p.m.

Integrated Arts Academy

IAA would start at 8:05 a.m. and dismiss at 2:35 p.m.
