Design Team will recreate District 112 secondary programSchool District 112 is taking bold steps to redesign the way schools deliver instruction to students in grades 6-12.The School Board has established a secondary School Design Team to recommend a program design that prepares all students for post-secondary success and reflects the Board's commitment to developing world class schools. The Design Team will recommend a program and delivery model for the District's middle schools and high schools. The Board's charge to the group directs it to examine best practices in areas such as scheduling, instructional delivery, curriculum and assessment, technology, inclusion/diversity, professional development, parent involvement and shared decision-making. The timeline calls for a recommendation to the Board in January, 2008. Once the School Board approves a new model, Core Teams will be created for each of the three middle schools and two high schools. The mission of the Core Teams will be to implement the plan for the new design at each building. In September, 2009, District 112 will open five "new secondary schools" reflecting the work of the committees.
