Scott Prescott named Middle School Educator of the Year
The Minnesota Middle School Association has selected Scott Prescott as its 2009 MMSA Educator of the Year! Mr. Prescott teaches music at Pioneer Ridge Middle School and is on the PRMS Leadership Council.

He will be honored at the Annual MMSA Conference in December, where he will receive his award, direct a performance of some of his students, and conduct a session on the topic WebQuests. Mr. Prescott will receive a $500 cash award for the music program at Pioneer Ridge.

In her letter of support for the nomination, Pioneer Ridge Principal Dana Miller said this: "Scott is a master teacher with the perfect blend of content knowledge and the gift to instill a passion for learning and music in his students." She described him as one who "truly cares and is committed to the success and growth of students as individuals."

The other finalist for this honor is also a music teacher in the Eastern Carver County Schools: Eric Songer, CMS West. Mr. Songer was the District 112 Foundation's Teacher of the Year in 2006.
