Supporting Student Learning Throughout the Summer

Eastern Carver County Schools’ Summer School programs offer students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the traditional school year. Summer School provides personalized learning opportunities which support a child’s academic needs in a fun, six-week program.Students receive instruction in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, all targeted at skills that students need for their next grade level or for post-secondary endeavors.

The district offers summer school programs for all grade levels:

Summer Explorers – current Kindergarten through 4th graders
Summer Bridge – current 5th graders
Summer Middle School – current 6th & 7th graders
Summer High School

Summer Explorers (K-4th grade)

Summer Explorers is for students currently enrolled in kindergarten through 4th grade in Eastern Carver County Schools.
Children are referred by their principal or teacher to enroll in the summer school program.

The Summer Explorers program provides an opportunity for students in current grades K-4 to extend their learning beyond the traditional school year. District staff will work with your student to personalize their learning experience. The program’s goal is to increase reading and math skills and expand their interest in art, science, music, sports, and the outdoors.

Mornings will focus on academic skill building.  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons students will participate in a variety of in-house “camps” focused on art, music, sports, and outdoor education. On Thursdays, all students will participate in a field trip to a variety of Minnesota educational landmarks such as the Minnesota Landscape Aboretum, Como Zoo, and Minnesota History Museum.

Summer Bridge Program (5th grade)

Summer Bridge is for students currently enrolled in 5th grade in Eastern Carver County Schools.

Summer Bridge – current 5th grade referred students
Monday – Thursday

June 20-July 27 (Note: Summer School begins on Tuesday, June 20. No school July 3 & 4; school in session July 5 & 6)

The Summer Bridge program provides an opportunity for current 5th grade students to extend their learning beyond the traditional school year. District staff will work with your student to personalize their learning experience. The Summer Bridge program will provide students with social-emotional skills and the academic support to help prepare them for success in a middle school environment. On Thursdays, students will participate in a variety of art or sports activities, or enjoy a field trip with the class.

Summer Middle School Program (grades 6 & 7)

Summer Middle School is for students currently enrolled in 6th & 7th grade in Eastern Carver County Schools.

The Summer Middle School program provides an opportunity for current 6th and 7th grade students to extend their learning beyond the traditional school year. District staff will work with your student to personalize their learning experience through group instruction, project-based learning, individual tutoring, and technology-aided instruction.

Summer Transitions Program (Grade 8)

Summer Transitions is for students currently enrolled in 8th grade in Eastern Carver County Schools.

The six-week program provides students with social-emotional skills and academic support to help prepare them for success in high school. District staff will personalize your student’s learning experience in Physics, Algebra(1), and EL Instruction.
