The Role of Technology in Support of the District Pillars

The technology plan serves as a blueprint for School District 112 to spark sound educational innovation and practices. The district's pillars spotlight four main areas that contribute to the development of world class schools. The plan identifies where technology can help advance those goals.   It emphasizes learning opportunities by ensuring robust technology access, relevant real-time information, and dynamic resources for students and staff.

World class education requires a talented staff with the resources, professional development, and support to utilize technology as they engage our students in learning.

Classroom Technology
Role:  Empower students to succeed in a technology-rich, global society through engaging pedagogy.

Professional Development
Role: Expand on-going, high-quality, professional development to provide engaging instruction in the classroom.

Instructional Delivery Support
Role:  Optimize instruction through technology by utilizing teachers in support roles as technology coordinators.  
An individually challenging curriculum that develops each learner's capacity to understand and apply knowledge demands technology to plan, deliver, and manage.

Curriculum Development & Integration
Role: Identify, research, align and implement technology resources that provide relevant 21st century curriculum and instructional practices.

Innovation, Research & Development
Role: Support schools, teachers, and students in exploring emerging technologies through pilots and other initiatives.

Evaluation
Role: Support electronic methods of grading, assessments, standardized testing, and reporting.  
Developing a sense of belonging and self worth that promotes community values and positive relationships compels the use of technology for communication and supervision.

Identity & Community
Role: Facilitate online communication and collaboration across the district and with families by enhancing available technology tools and resources.

Safety
Goal: Provide a secure and safe learning environment for students and staff through education and protected access to network resources.
  Technology access and information management empower us to effectively and efficiently manage our resources, maintaining dependability while fostering innovation.

Data-Driven Decision Making
Role:  Provide access to data and analysis tools that advance data-driven decisions which improve instruction and operations.

Network & Telecommunications
Role:  Support educational and communication needs by providing secure access to stable network resources

Support & Operations Role:  Provide high-quality, customer-friendly technology support to our students and staff to meet the goals of teachers, learners, and operations.

Providing Appropriate Resources
Role:  Provide updated computers and technology resources on a sustainable lifecycle.
