
eLearning
Eastern Carver County Schools is implementing an E-Learning plan to allow for greater flexibility in the event of an extended winter weather event or unexpected school closure. The district will still allow for up to two traditional "snow days" if weather is impacting the ability to travel safely. In the event that more days are needed due to weather or an unexpected closure, a building or the entire district will shift to E-Learning to minimize impacts on the school calendar and student learning.
Educator Role
- Prepare self-directed, asynchronous learning activities for students to complete.
- Aligned to learning targets
- Continue to align with the current unit plan/pacing guide
- Students are able to complete independently
- Post learning activities and directions for the day within 2 hours of the normal school start time.
- Asynchronous workload expectations:
- No more than 20-30 minutes per class, for a total of 2-3 hours.
- Differentiate for students as you see fit - just like you would in-person.
- Ensure students and families understand the e-Learning plan and are able to access the learning activities.
- Physical materials can be sent home proactively and/or posted in Google Classroom the day of (students and families need to know how to access).
- Be available for office hours via Google Meet for 2 hours during the school day. Communicate this clearly to students and families.
- Check voicemail and email throughout the work day for messages from students, families, and colleagues. Respond to communication that is related to e-Learning in a timely manner.
- Take attendance at the end of the day and next morning in Infinite Campus.
- Learning activity engagement and completion will be used for attendance. Communicate to students and families how they can submit evidence of completed learning activities (via email or Google Classroom).
- If students don’t engage in learning activities, they will be marked absent.
- If a student has limited wifi access at home, parents can call or email the teacher for attendance. The student should bring completed learning activities back to school.
Once e-Learning day/s conclude, create an in-person opportunity for students to demonstrate and discuss their learning from the assigned activities.

Student Role
- Contact teacher/s via email or Google Meet if you have questions about a learning activity or need support.
- Know where to find and how to access the e-Learning activities for the day.
- Complete the asynchronous learning activities as directed by the teacher.
- Submit evidence of completed learning activities to the teacher/s. Teachers will communicate how to submit. This will be used for attendance.
- Work hard and continue learning on the e-Learning day!
Family Role
- Know who to contact if you have questions.
- Know how to find and access the e-Learning activities.
- Support your child with:
- Finding a work space to complete the learning activities.
- Completing the learning activities.
- Submitting completed learning activities for evidence of attendance.
- Communicating with teacher/s if they have questions or need support.
- Find some time for fun!
