Chromebook Insurance Plan

Plan Covers Through Summer of 2021

Full-Time Protection:

As a courtesy to families, Eastern Carver County Schools provides an optional damage insurance to defray the cost of replacement or repair* of District Chromebooks in the event of accidental damage, liquid damages, fire, flood, theft, natural disaster and power surge due to lightning.  Without it, families are responsible for the full cost of repairs or replacement. With the insurance plan in place the first three incidents of repairs or replacement (power adapters are not covered) are covered no matter if you are hybrid, in-person, or online academy learner.

The cost is $20.00 for coverage from the date of purchase through the summer of 2021 for any Chromebook your child is using. This protection must be purchased prior to any incident of damage, loss, or theft of the Chromebook.

During the 2020-21 school year all Kinder Academy, K and 1st grade students will be bringing Chromebooks home. To assist these youngest learners Kinder Academy, K and 1st grade are being provided a FREE Chromebook Insurance plan so you do not need to purchase a plan for these students.

Note:  Effective as of 11/1/2020 we no longer have a maximum charge per family regarding Chromebook Damage Insurance.  If you need financial assistance to obtain Chromebook Damage Insurance please contact your child’s school and let the school know you would like assistance.  Note: Normal wear and tear, or cosmetic damages that do not affect the functionality or integrity of the Chromebook do not require repair and therefore are not covered by the damage insurance plan.

Chromebooks with a paid Chromebook Damage Insurance will have the first three incidents of accidental damage to a Chromebook repaired* at no cost. Stolen devices will be replaced only with a police report and notification of school administration (administrative dean, assistant principal or tech support specialist) in a timely manner.  Deliberate misuse or abuse damage is NOT considered accidental damage and as such is not covered by our Chromebook Damage Insurance.

Regular limited warranty

All district Chromebooks are warranted from defects in the material and workmanship and will be repaired* at no charge. This regular limited warranty however does not cover accidental damage which families are responsible to cover without a Chromebook insurance plan in place. All device problems must be reported to your school’s media center.  NOTE: * The District may use recycled components to complete repairs on Chromebooks and in some cases may replace the damaged device with a gently used replacement.  NOTE: * Deliberate misuse or abuse damage is NOT considered accidental damage and as such is not covered by our Chromebook insurance.
