Immigration Resources
Eastern Carver County Schools is committed to the safety and security of every one of our students, staff, and families.
Established case law has held that undocumented children have the legal right to a public education. In Plyer vs. Doe (1982), the United States Supreme Court held that a State may not deny access to a basic public education to any child residing in the State, whether present in the United States legally or otherwise. In short, a student's or their parent’s citizenship status is not relevant to their K-12 public education.
Our enrollment processes do not ask for or maintain records regarding a family’s immigration status. Every child in our care deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.
