DECA students earn high marks at State competition

In early March, 96 DECA students from Chanhassen and Chaska High Schools competed against more than 1,900 students from around the state of Minnesota. The teams represented their schools well earning high marks in many event categories. Fifteen students qualified for International Competition scheduled for April in Atlanta.  MN State Competition results are listed below by school: 

Chanhassen High School 

  • 53 Chanhassen DECA competitors
  • 31 Top 12 finalists 
  • 20 of the finalists finished in the Top 8
  • 2 students finished Top 8 in 2 events (Molly Maves, Callin Hake)
  • 1 student finished Top 8 in 3 events (Gianna Kingsbury)
  • 3 Top Test scores (Gianna Kingsbury, Hudson Stier, Sam Haider)

In addition, 12 Chanhassen High School students qualified for the International Competition:

2nd Place-

  • Sophie Cook – Principles of Hospitality & Tourism
  • Ella Bush & Tara Hidding – Sales Project

3rd Place-

  • Molly Maves, Kourtney Miller, Sami Milligan – Financial Literacy Project
  • Hallie Boorsma, Brenna Chase, Carolyn Powell – Community Awareness
  • Gianna Kingsbury – Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling

4th Place-

  • Maddie Hauck & Kaylie Heno – Career Development

 

Chaska High School 

  • 43 Chaska DECA competitors
  • 18 Top 12 finalists 
  • 16 of the finalists finished in the Top 8
  • 2 students finished Top 8 in 2 events (Jenna Davis, Jordyn Sayre)
  • 3 Top Test scores (Ben Sampson, Ava Laxen, Alex Schenten)

In addition, 3 Chaska High School students qualified for the International Competition:

  • Grace Tierney – Quick Service Restaurant Management

3rd Place-

  • Jenna Davis & Jordyn Sayre
