Eastern Carver County Schools names next Executive Director of Community Education

Eastern Carver County School District is excited to name Dr. Alicia Fischer as the next Executive Director of Community Education. She will start her new role on December 2, and follows Sue Harberts, who is retiring.

Fischer brings 25 years of diverse leadership and educational experience to the role. She’s currently the principal at Chaska Middle School West, and before that, she served as principal at Apollo High School and the McKinley Area Learning Center in St. Cloud. Over her career, Alicia has also led as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and teacher. Her work spans PreK-12 and includes strong connections to both academic and extracurricular programming. She received her bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State, her master’s in health education from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and her doctorate in education from St. Cloud State University.

Fischer earned the position following a rigorous and thorough interview process that included multiple rounds of interviews with various stakeholders. Her thoughtful and grounded leadership style, along with a strong systems lens, will be a great fit for leading Community Education into its next chapter. We are proud to welcome Alicia into this new role as she continues her work in support of our community of learners of all ages.
