Ethan Larson (Chanhassen High School)
Four-year veteran of the Carver County Sheriff’s Office; 10 years overall
Why did you become a School Resource Officer? “I always had interest in it. I’ve enjoyed working with kids. I always wanted a specific role within the department, and I felt that would be a successful role for me. It’s rewarding working with students, understanding the problems and issues they face, and being able to help them get through them. It’s my way of giving back to the community, helping to keep Chanhassen High School a safe space to learn and work.”\
What can you accomplish as a SRO? “There is one of me, and there are 1,500 or students and staff, so it’s those relationships that are so important. I want them to feel like they can come to me and report anything they see that’s suspicious because I’ve gained that relationship and trust with them.”
What excites you about the start of a new school year? “It is about those relationships that have been created in the last two years. Students have been coming up and telling me how their summer went. All the things that happened. And they ask me how my summer was. It’s crazy how much some of them have changed in just three months. It’s great to be back this school year.”
