Hunter Panning (Integrated Arts Academy, three middle schools)
Six-year veteran of the Chaska Police Department
Why did you become a police officer? “It has always been a goal of mine to work here. If you ask my mom, she’d tell you I always said I wanted to be a Chaska police officer. My dad worked for the Chaska Fire Department for 25 or so years. That’s probably where it all started.”
What can you accomplish as a SRO? “I love meeting the kids, learning who they are and what they like. Those positive relationships are the backbone of the foundation of school safety. Most problems are solved before they become a bigger problem by having those positive interactions with the students. We want them to feel safe when they come to school.”
What excites you about the start of a new school year? “It’s always refreshing at the start of the year. The students are excited. It’s a chance to start making relationships with new students and keep building relationships with students from the year before.”
